Bright steel bars are essentially carbon steel with the surface condition improved beyond the hot rolled finish supplied straight from the mill. This makes it better for machining, and gives better mechanical properties, dimensional tolerances and straightness. They`re available in a range of shapes, but the most common is round bar.

Steel angles are a 90 degree angle bar. Steel angles come in two coating finishes, black, which is a mill finish and Duragal, which is an in line galvanized product. Common uses include bed frames, box trailers and many more applications.
Black steel angles can be supplied from 20 x 20mm through to 200 x 200mm and thicknesses of 3mm through to 26mm.
Duragal steel angles can be supplied from 30 x 30mm through to 100 x 100mm and thicknesses of 2.5mm through to 8mm.
Beams & Columns
A universal steel beam has an “I” cross section with its main application in the structural frames of sheds and large buildings. It is also used in applications where significant weight needs to be carried eg semi-trailer chasis or where large spans need to be achieved as in bridges.
Light universal steel beams range from 150 UB through to 410 UB. Heavy universal steel beams include 460 UB through to 610 UB.
Steel columns as with steel beams and steel channels are mainly used in structural applications. With steel beams, the cross section of the product has an “I” shape. Its main applications are for large industrial sheds and highrise buildings where significant loads must be carried.
Light universal steel columns range from 100 UC to 200 UC. Heavy universal steel columns range from 250 UC to 310 UC.
A steel channel is a right angle “C” section. As with steel beams, steel channels are mainly used in structural applications. Common uses are house floor joists, semi trailor rails and industrial stair frames to name a few. Steel channels are supplied in a black mill finish and Duragal finish.
Flat steel bar is available in two finishes black and Duragal. Common uses of the product are steel ballustrading, connector plates, purlin cleats and many other applications.
Black steel flats can be supplied in sizes from 10 x 3mm to 300 x 25mm. Duragal steel flats can be supplied in sizes from 50 x 4mm to 150 x 8mm.
The versatile steel pipe product range satisfy Standards for low pressure reticulation/piping, general mechanical and structural applications. For a specific outside diameter these sections have a larger wall thickness than CHS in the Structural Steel Products range. However, the steel Pipe product range is of a lower strength grade to Structural CHS.
Standardised diameters and thicknesses for Steel Pipe products permit industry accepted connections to be readily used in fluid conveyancing applications. Larger wall thicknesses also help to provide longer service life in heavy fluid and wear applications i.e. that encountered in mining operations, slurry and concrete pumping. A galvanized coating and the large wall thickness improves the Pipe’s corrosion resistance in some water reticulation applications.

Following the introduction of CHS, RHS have also become very popular in many forms of construction and other structural steel and mechanical applications. This has been greatly assisted by the steel sections inherent flat surfaces making it more economical for joining and other fabrication processes. In this instance, and unlike CHS, the steel sections only need to be straight-cut (when joining to other flat surfaces) instead of profile cut. Minimal edge preparation is required for joining and welding RHS Steel.
Like CHS, RHS are also aesthetic, possess clean lines, functional, interact less with external environmental effects and are highly desired from an architectural perspective.
